I think those would have been easy to get once you got on the trail from 11. I really regret not going for them.

Coming up from the re-entrant from 21 on the paddle portion. Just follow the re-entrant and it leads you to #10.

Are you interested in the 12 hour AR on July 9th? Its the Sheltowee Extreme. It's a qualifier race for Nationals so they actually give you 3 hours of grace time? My issue I don't want to be in the dark doing a solo. I will not ride a bike after dark but would do foot or maybe flat water. The drive time is just about 3 hrs. Let me know your interest level.

I was planning on trying this one next year. I think this race is over my head for now, I could do 6 to 8 hours, but I don't know if I am ready for 12 hours yet. That and I think this one is bit more hard core than the unbridled events we have been doing. They require a UTM plotter for example, I guess that means plotting coordinates, I have done that before but it has been a long time. I don't think I am ready for that from a racing perspective.

That said, it looks like Civil twilight isn't until 21:20, so it wouldn't really be dark before the cutoff. I don't know anything about grace time.

I worked as a volunteer at the Nationals meet for AR last year. The hardcore races seem to call themselves a 12 hr race, but they don't penalize until the 15th hour. Seems strange but I guess it's a custom. I still toying with this one. I could just come in early. I could also just volunteer and get a feel for what it is like. Oh well, I need to take some time and think clearly about it.

Yes, this is above my head for now. Here are the races or events I have been looking at outside of the OLOU schedule and the unbridled series for 2016, there are others close by, Dino has a racy in Indy but It has a ropes section and I have only rappelled once in the Army and I am pretty sure this is totally different.

The Bear is in GA, A bit of a trek so I am not sure about that one, but it looks interesting and the folks putting it on seem to have been at it for a while. I might move that to my 2017 list assuming I can improve my performance through the Unbridled series.

I'm going to decide on the Sheltowee Extreme by tomorrow. Talked to Ben & Stephanie about it last night at the O Cin meet. Sent an email to the meet director this AM.

I signed up today for the Sheltowee Extreme. I think they give you the GPS coordinates and you have to plot them on your topo map using the UTM plotter. I will need practice since it has been 30 years since I have done this.

yes it has been that long for me too, and it was on 1:50,000 NATO maps at that so that is a whole other thing.

I'll be interested to hear about this race. Looks hardcore to me so it should be quite a challenge.

I will let you know how it goes. Just hard to pass it up when it's within a 3 hr drive.
