while your brain might not have been there something was - snaffling 3rd place. Tough going - your rogainers are incredible!!!
Thanks so much for your words of wisdom - much appreciated.

Hmm...that 3rd was in mixed veterans. 23rd overall is a better indicator of true performance (4 teams on the same score but 3 of them got in a couple min earlier than we did). Mind you, I was sulking a little about being middle-aged and decrepit yesterday as younger/fitter people raced past me, and then Russell's tenacity kind of puts me to shame!

I have absolutely no idea how you got up the mudslope near 101 wearing Asics GT2000s!

If you're referring to the major climb off the beach to the west, we didn't try - having looked up and seen quite a few teams making no apparent progress halfway up the slope, we went around on the track to the north instead.

You also went 7km further than Blair. That's quite an achievement in a team sport.

I think I'll give up rogaining. I told everyone that at my last event in May and missing our state champs on the weekend to instead work in hash house and do a MTB race on the Sunday morning was far more rewarding than bashing through awful bush and several river crossings would have been.

Funny how many Andrews there are in NSW rogaining. I just noticed there is an Andrew in the teams that finished 7th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 24th... and 7 others. The three in a row kind of stood out though.

My piece of string vs Blair's ruler :)

Also, there are 3 Andrews in my orienteering club alone (also 4 Peters).
