Beast of Ballyhoura, closing date is tomorrow!
Aaah. I've ran a lot of races through my mind to see if anything gets me buzzing and excited about.
Nothing really attracts my attention or gives me the adrenaline rush I need.
WOC, IOC, Hill Running Champs... all fun, but all missing something worth trading up for.
Kinda got a massive adrenaline rush doing other stuff so missing that kick from sports/racing. I'm sure something will spark eventually.
Not having something to aim specifically for is a bit shit though
Try something new? Maybe cycling more - triathlons, duathlons, mountain biking, generally cycling epics? That might help with the adrenaline rushes maybe, not sure about the aims.
A question in two parts. What do you enjoy best? What are you best at?
I have thought about the Round in great detail in the past. Having covered most of it previously, in my head completing it wouldn't be a problem, notwithstanding a) it would hurt and b) it would be 24hrs of suck. Seamus floated the idea of a winter solstice round. I could see this idea gaining traction as the nights close in.
On the bike, haven't given it much thought. Doesn't lead to the training for sport specific, which leads into Eoins question of what do I enjoy...
The fact that my reaction to the bike is, it's not sports specific, basically says I love to race in forests and mountain. The reason for not having the drive to commit to saying/ doing a performance at the IOC, is probably due to not being able to commit enough time to fully train sports specifically for it.
In work, I had to fully buy in, 24/7, so not having something that all consuming probably has me in this unsure what to commit to.
What do I enjoy... O relays
What am I best at... application of physical stress to a body
Where is the next World Beasting Championships?
Three years time in Germany
Was ist das in Deutschland? We should have more O relay races in Ireland aside from that one big one per year.
Actually chatting to CillinC on Tuesday about the possibility of a CNOC vs CorkO showdown at Jukola in the future, potentially awesome.
I will leave it to our relay specialists Dooby/Magic/Boyzone to officially throw down the gauntlet... then we can commence a year of trash-talking.
People keep giving him ideas PLEASE!!!!!
He is a grumpy old man when he doesn't have a goal and I only end up getting annoyed he's in a mood because he now has time to do things again haha
I think WOC, Round, doing any event with your gf :p .....
A challenge should be something that is achievable, so that discounts a CNOC victory over Cork in Jukola...
Similarly a Cork win over UCDO.
Sadly, a single Irish club getting a solid team to a Jukola start line is unlikely
Solid team.... not second rate ;)
