I did that in an AR once. It was pushing waist deep for us and I don't know that it was faster at the rate we slogged! Proud that you crossed it.

I told Sydney I wasn't willing to cross swamps for the first 6 hours. She was mostly able to stay on top of the firmer stuff, me not so much.
Also, the western peninsula at 54 was supposed to be a parallel trap, since 54 is on its ridge and you have to kind of switch to the correct exit.
It's such a beautiful trap from your direction that I fell for it while flag hanging.
I also did the 76 to 54 swamp cross, but 54 was my 4th point, so got quite wet very early. For the most part, the crossing was not bad (stayed on top of the grass bumps), but a couple of times, in past the knees. Almost lost a shoe in the mud once too. I do agree the it saved a bunch of time though.
