PG: That's the old M&M route. When I was much younger, one of the macho training runs was the M&M from the Notch to Harris Mountain Road, and back. Going out was runnable, as you were fresh going over Norwottuck and still ok over Long Mt. On the way back Long Mt. was awful, but could be done, but I never managed to run up Norwottuck, would get up to the Horse Caves and croak. But it really is steep...

PBricker: Steep with loose rocks and dry leaves. I had to grab on to vegetation for dear life - and I was walking!

In my mind, I was planning a really wicked red course all on the north side and around the top of Norwottuck. 6-7 k, 400-500 meters of climb. Definitely macho.

cmorse: There's a faint trail off the north side of the peak just east of the main one - Rattlesnake? - its just N of the '05 Billygoat waterstop. I recall that being almost impossible to stand upright on when I was remapping it a couple years ago. I'd take my hands off the nearest sapling and just start sliding downhill while trying to draw.
