Just surviving, like when the route has 5 passes to do, is not such a bad thing. :-)

Perhaps useful to experiment with how easy an effort you can put out and still make it up in an acceptable time, thereby leaving more gas in the tank?

Yeah - will totally be the mode for the event itself, so could be the right thing to practice! But it is such a long hill, I do find myself just totally daydreaming sometimes, kinda feel like I should be a bit more focused than that...

Still I guess it's the intervals I do on Mars Hill (shorter, steeper) where I should be trying to get my strength... I'm going to do one more 2 x Snowbowl, 1 x Nordic center ride for ~60 miles this weekend - will be the first time with the compact crankset, so hoping to keep better cadence up, something I haven't been able to do so far...

See you're getting some good rides with Phil in! Wish I were there to join!

And the main determinant of a "good ride" is that neither of us crashed. :-)

But the hills here are not in your league, nor the altitude. Hope to go ride up Greylock before too long, but the idea of doing it 5 times....
