Judging by the map, yes I am. Wish I lived in Scotland!

Sad day.

I don't think OJ is surrounded by idiots, at least not in the few miles radius around his house. Dropping the kids off at school this morning there were groups of huddled parents all on the verge of tears, desperately trying and failing to comprehend what just happened.

Depressed when I rolled over this morning and read the news on my phone... hard news to swallow (was so sure it was going to be ok, and go the other way).

I'm used to feeling deflated on election nights (Labour have only won two of the last seven Australian elections, although hopefully it will be three out of eight this time next week), but at least when your side loses a general election there's the consolation that maybe in three/four/five years' time the rest of the population will realise what a bunch of incompetents or ideologues they elected and throw them out. That option isn't available this time (unless you're Scottish), and I can only imagine how it must feel to have a vote go against you which is perhaps not forever, but at least indefinite.

A referendum has been held on whether to remain or leave. As was made clear in Evan Davis's interview with Douglas Carswell yesterday the precise definition of those words has not been a subject of a referendum. Carswell was trying hard to shut down what might be the more palatable options.

Also Carswell was trying to conflate a vote to leave with support for the "official" leave campaign as if they now had a mandate for power. Clearly they do not.

There needs to be, at least, a debate in parliament over what form leave takes. The link below is not that but it is at least close.
