Nice.. guess we both decided to ride long yesterday. I had the early signs of impending cramps in the last few miles before home and was glad to be done when I was...
I was thinking of exactly that when I was in my car changing my clothes, and my legs (and thumbs) were alternately going into failure mode.
Uh, maybe a little training on the bike before doing a long ride would help? Though I guess the unicycle counts for something.
50 miles wasn't a problem. It was the speed we were going that was tough. Once on my own, I toodled right along. And my brother awarded me special cred for doing it on little training. But he said next time he's going to pick out clothes for me.
I would really like to see a picture of you in your retro outfit. Especially nice would be one with the other riders for the contrast.
Reminds me of a time my friend Al told me about, quite a few years ago. Al is a pretty good rider, and he was all decked out with whatever slick new bike he had that year, all the clothes, gear, etc. Hammering along the road. He came upon Rich Fargo, an ultra-runner of some note. Rich was riding his bike, no toe clips, just sneakers and flat pedals, cut off denim shorts. They rode together for a bit, then Rich said goodbye and disappeared into the distance. Something to be said for having a good engine.
