Going west through Clayton on that route, starting at FPP, is painful at rush hour bcuz of the lights and heavy traffic. Hopefully you'll be early enough that it won't be an issue. A bit longer but fewer lights: Clayton to Warson and then north to Ladue. Downside - Clayton east of Hanley is in pretty bad shape.

i didn't know about that route. was looking at your garmin track, think i might try that, but instead of the overpass, go over to brentwood and cut through the park to the centennial trail.

Not exactly sure where you are traveling, but this may help.
Going east to west, I find Wydown, Polo, overpass, to Shaw Park and north on Cent Trail is ideal for me getting to Bridge Center at Olive & 170.

Returning is a bit messier since road from overpass to Shaw Park is one-way. Sidewalk is okay. Often I return east on Vernon, south on bike trail through Loop to access Wash U overpass onto campus. [Stop at one of several Loop restaurants is a big plus of this return route!]

lately i've been using forsyth-hanley-maryland-->ladue and that seems to help avoid a lot of traffic. but i love those overpasses too!

Oops - WU overpass over FPP is under (re)construction -- looks to be out for a while. WU construction projects seem endless!
