kupackman: I went on a hike once in early fall, and I actually just stopped and turned around about 10 minutes into it because I was tired of having to deal with running into so many webs. It's much less fun when those big, gooey spiders are sitting in the middle of them, and you have a spider on your face. Not good.

Sometimes I would hike with a big stick and hold it out in front of me.

ebone: Yeah, that would be good while walking, but I decided that holding a stick in front of me while running was ill advised. Sometimes I held up my hand, but often I didn't see the webs, because it was shady in the forest.
