Indeed they did! Very proud. I was a bit nervous putting this trip together balancing their requests and reality...but it worked out quite well. Thinking about the Porcupine Mountains next summer.

I loved the porcupine mountains, but I do have to warn you that we did a 3-day trip around the lake of the clouds, and on day 3, it was really slow going for a good portion - about 1 mph because of the marshy terrain and lots of downed trees. And there were slugs on every tree surface, so I accidentally grabbed a number of them when steadying myself to cross over a downed tree. That was in 1999, so the trail could be dramatically different now. I know you would be fine with it, but less enthusiastic members of your party may not be. My point is that you should verify trail conditions during the planning process.

You could also consider pictured rocks. We went swimming in Superior every night after setting up camp.
