Wow! An hour and a half? All that time pulling Bermuda grass? Check out these sources of free mulch! I've found by mulching my plants, it looks better, retains moisture better, adds humus to the soil...and suffocates those persistent weeds that seem to LOVE gardens!

yeah, well actually we are using some of that free mulch already! but digging it out roots runners and all is the only long term solution, though digging is a lot easier in the mulched areas. For mulch alone to work the entire garden would have to be covered w 2' of mulch, and you dont want mulch piled high near plant stems, disease and rot being the danger there.

pretty impressive that you nailed our mulch source...and I really agree w you about mulching. its just that we let this stuff get out of control as we were understaffed, and now it has a subterranean root system that transcends all surface conditions!

Returning from vacation, I used loppers, pick axe, and double-bladed axe on my yard and garden yesterday -- chitown just doesn't appreciate STL weeds! :)

Yeah...I'll have to agree. We don't see real Bermuda grass up here too often, thank Goodness! It makes for terrible golf conditions! That stuff 'eats' golf balls! And no matter what club you use, you just cannot get a decent hit to the green.
