Love the XA Pro's. How do you rate them? I love the Solomon Speed Cross too but the XA Pro's offer better protection.

Asthma: Is it seasonal, exercise induced? I've had to upgrade my preventative over the years as the body seems to adapt

How old is your Zoe? Ours is 21 months and already a terrible (but cute) 2!

Responding in order :)

1. The XA Pros are great. They're a little heavier than I'd like, but really sturdy, and the wide sole offers more protection from ankle rolls. I haven't tried the Speed Cross, though when I tested them in the store, the bottoms felt really soft. I like Brooks Cascadias for gentle trails, but won't race in anything but the Pros.

2. General asthma, exacerbated by cold and exercise. I've been taking advair and singulair daily for 6 or 7 years, and they work well. I hate that insurance companies have so much power over what gets prescribed.

3. Our Zoe's just a few months older! She turned two at the end of April. She definitely has her moments of being very two, but overall she's a pretty chill kid :) Will yours be coming to Itera? Our Zoe was at Itera in Wales when she was 3 months old, but she's staying stateside with her grandparents this year.

Looking forward to meeting you in person, after following along in your adventures!

You too. Looking forward to meeting Team Rootstock. No Zoe will be with Mom. May pop out on the course if the route passes close enough by at a good time, ie non nap time etc. Zoe's schedule rules the roost.

The XA pros are good, and great for racing. However for me their drawback is durability. General trekking and hiking you can get around 400 mi, less for racing. I go through about 2 pairs a year.
