I've upgraded my brake pads to Swisstop and find them much more effective. Give me a shout if you want to check anything else on your bike. I have done most things on mine now and have the tools, spares..

oh no..just put it into bike shop in Auchterader. I have thickish winter tyres, is it worth changing to thinner ones for Aberfeldy?

Yes absolutely....and make sure they are pumped up to at least 110 psi. Do you have tri bars?? What about 2 bottle holders?? for water and one for energy drink. Do you have a gas pump with spare cartidges??

These are the tyres I use (GP 4000 S II), available at 1/2 price on Sportpursuit. I have gone for 25mm width, pumping the rear to 120psi and front to 110 when not commuting (which my rims are ok with). I would also recommend taking them on/off a couple of times when new, so they are not so tight if you get a puncture.
