when I ride through Port Severn to the cottage I go off a turn at northern most point on Lone Pine Rd and inevitably end up knee deep in swamp trying to get through to Nicholson's Rd.
I've contemplated taking Corrievale rd and trying to find a way through to Island Dr/Sweets Portage rd, but I figure I'll just find a different issue and increase my distance/time in the process.
That is exactly where I was...my bushwhack was at the top of Sweet Bay from Coreyvale Road over to Island Drive/Sweet Portage Road. It's quite thick in there.
I actually had no problem linking up the snowmobile/ATV trail to Nicholson's Road. Rather than jump onto Nicholson's at the first opportunity, the trail veers west and gets closer to the 400...I just ran a little more north to a side-trail that pretty much was an extension of Sweet Portage Road.
That snowmobile trail up to Nicholsons is usually 50% under water and/or a sloppy mess, but the water is down everywhere this year. I haven't ridden it yet this summer.
Good to know that's a thick bushwhack. I've often wondered if there was a trail through there.
You're right about the water - even after these drier months. After the Friday night rain there was a one kilometer section with multiple puddles, but I could skirt them on either side of the trail, except for one that was at least thigh deep.
We'll be sure to put that one on the WT course.
