**cough** Ed fix this **cough**
Once you're fixed, CascadeOC has 4 runners in the Top 25, more than any other club!
Ed isn't the one who can fix this...Will needs to change his club by editing his club when he enters events online. Club used in race entries, and then results is the one reflected in the rankings.
P.S. Congrats on moving up to #2!!
I think Will told me (I think) that he's going to keep using SAMM as long as it's an option in the registration system. SAMM has not been an active club since December 31, 2014.
Well, deleting Samm as an option is on Ed... :)
I respect Will for keeping it real.
Haha Ed and I have actually discussed this; he basically said
stop being a pain in the ass for technical reasons it's more trouble than it's worth to delete SAMM from the database. So that's why it's still there.
My rule of thumb is COC for championships, SAMM for lesser events. Registering as SAMM is my own subtle/quirky way of paying tribute to those who taught me how to orienteer (some of whom are no longer with us).
I also get to play along...the rankings program fails the lookup to assign your rankings ID when the club isn't the same as the one used for the current rankings.
Removing clubs is a bit of a problem right now in eventreg as it breaks viewing start lists or entry data from past events. I need to add a flag to the club list that indicates if the club is active, so it can stay in the table to be referenced by old data, but not shown in the current club drop down.
I want to play too. Imagine when SAMM is removed from the database, Will will be racing for Null Island
hmm well maybe I should stop then. I had assumed the rankings program disregarded club affiliation (since that can change) and I wasn't creating any additional work for anyone.
Ah, no worries really.
Though, I could be passive/aggressive and drop SAMM from my DB table the next time I loaded rankings, so it would instead show blank as your club when you used SAMM. ;-)
Rankings match on First Name, Last Name, Club, since this is the information always in the results. Not everyone has an OUSA #, or if they do, it isn't always entered correctly, and club sometimes helps sort out people with the same name.
Anyway, unless you start using variations of Will, Wil, William, Bill, Billy, etc., you are the least of my problem children. :)
(what have I done????)
Dude, let's resurrect SAMM! With one more club membership in North America, I get the next one free!
There's an official rule with SAMM's resurrection, and that's that any club member of SAMM can never wear a CSU jersey ever again.
I had some ideas for uniform; I was envisioning something like this:
Except instead of orange and blue, we use pumpkin and azure.
