No, he neglected that part of the story. I am a bit concerned, though, that he also got the gift of volunteering in the catering section for his birthday. Bit mean. Hopefully you'll make up for it in the second half of your trip.

Ah, but "stoker" Jim used to be a boiler-man on the Eyre peninsula railways in the days of steam, and his heating of the water at SA rogaines is legendary :)

Fair enough. That helps explain why he was concerned the electricity would go off. You can't trust electricity :)
