Sounds great. We've been to Assiniboine in winter a few times but never in summer so it's cool to hear what it's like.

What do you think of those shoes compared to the other 'over-sized' ones you've had?

@Bash: I too have been in once in the winter but never in the summer. Definitely worth a visit in the summer, especially the journey in from Sunshine Village. So beautiful in the summer!

@phatty: the shoes have been really good. Some good cushioning without being as big as the Hokas. For long runs, I can feel that the Hokas do have a little more cushioning, but the Propulse are enough cushioning for most things and they feel like they run more like a normal shoe. Also, they don't make you feel self-conscious because they don't look as extreme as the Hokas, but the trail running community isn't very startled by seeing Hokas anymore.

@FB: a great weekend! Not quite as good as a cabin on the water in the Muskokas but it's our local substitute. I did do a quick little swim (bath) in the lake at the foot of Mount Assiniboine. The Swede was too wimpy to go for it. Who's really got the Viking blood?...

Our lake is pushing 80F now.

Get chased in to the lake by the FDF's after a run and it's not even refreshing.

Hey, I was too wimpy to go into the water becasue I thought lightning from the approaching storm would hit me if I did. And of course it didn't so I should have gone in.

Isn't that like saying that you should have skipped wearing a seatbelt because you didn't get into a car accident after all?

I often wake up NOT feeling like crap and say "damn, I could have had more beer and nachos last night"
Life is a series of regrets... and near misses... :-)
