My guess is most people followed the trail that the control was placed at. That's what I did and noticed the control quickly. I didn't even notice how misleading the map was until you pointed it out!

I always run to the circle so I dropped down to that trail figuring I would run right over it. I went back to the other trail but did not see it. Oh well that happens.
