Good job with event! although next time remove the black berries as they were annoying and painful!! Guess who's club is doing it next year?!?! Sounds like fun!!!!!!!!!
Haha, they had been removed - slashed last summer but just starting to grow back, it would seem.
I think we only just break even for the school champs and we can't charge more because we risk losing participants.
Similar with us on a local basis. Is it possible to 'divert' some development money? I know the pie is small and a juggling act (not of pies!!!). I think ONSW is using some of the money generated by school Gala Days and the like to go into a pool to support (not fund) other activities. Not every event can be self supporting, though you need to keep an eye on numbers/participation and costs.
I'm finding that there has been a shift locally to requests from secondary schools - but diverse subject areas - PE, HSIE, Maths. Maybe in-school in Primary is being met to some extent by SSP. All these areas keep our exposure up but I think the conversion activities may need to be more of the cross fertilised type - eg a version of Adventure Race or even urban Sprints and even PoGo of recent times, and drag them back to 'pure' Orienteering.
Organising an event like that us a huge effort. I can't believe you managed to do that while working full time as well. You deserve a medal (well, a very big thank you at the least).
