For sure, we have the Lincoln Park Boat Club
a few blocks from me, of which I was a member for many years. Rowing on the Lake is tough any time of day. But we have the south end of the lagoon which is placid enough. Link will cycle through to a pic of the lagoon at dusk.
And we have several other rowing clubs on the Chicago River a couple miles west of me. But no where is as entertaining as rowing on the Charles River when I used to live in the Back Bay. Or the Schuylkill River when I used to live in Philadelphia.
I think coach, Charlie and I use the Concept II rowing machine for a full-body workout. And as I get older, it remains one of the few opportunities to get my heart-rate up to maximum for a sustained period. It would be tough to get in a 5000m row on that short lagoon without stopping to turn a couple of times!
I don't air condition my home either. So I pretty much sweat in the heat all summer long 24/7, even tho last month was apparently the warmest month
ever recorded! I just sweat a lot more when I'm rowing!
