Hi everyone!

Team USA athletes have arrived in Strömstad and are getting ready to race!

You'll find updates during the event on our blog, and many on the team will be updating their AP logs:

Ok, some of them are better about updating their AP logs than others, but I'm sure they will all appreciate comments of support on their logs (I'll be sure to tell them about them)!

You can also follow Orienteering USA on Facebook and Twitter to get updates, athlete profiles, and more fun stuff.

Last but not least, remember that it's always possible to donate to OUSA to help support these athletes who have trained hard all year in order to travel halfway around the world and test themselves against the best! Thanks for your support!

I guess I missed something somewhere but I thought Michael Laraia was on the team. Is he not going now?

Michael declined a month or so ago.

Boris, the WOC2016 team page on the OUSA website has race assignments, and I'll try to post results as soon as I can get to them after races, but Facebook, Twitter and the team blog are probably the places to look, after the WOC website itself, and here on AP. :-)

Quick update from Strömstad:

Unfortunately none of the Americans made it through to the final this morning. Alex was our closest, 18th in her heat and only 15s back from qualifying position. No big mistakes, but she says, "I'm very proud of the first three quarters and I'd like a redo on the last 25%." That's a sentiment shared by several on the team, I think. (Alex wants to add that she's really excited to get into the forest.)

The course looked challenging and fun from the sidelines, taking people into the rocky coastal area after a lot of fast city running.

Ross: "I was pretty satisfied with my navigation and I never lost contact with the map. I missed the last (long) route choice. My speed isn't currently at the level needed to make it to the final but I'm very satisfied on a personal level."

An an extra pat on the back is in order for Will Enger, who got through his first WOC race with a smile.

The team is headed back to the city now for the Opening Ceremony and Sprint Final.
