Very interesting tactics in the Men's race; SUI, NOR, SWE, FRA, GBR, FIN, LAT, UKR, EST, AUT are all putting their best runner on leg 2.

No one wants to miss the break it seems...
Aug 26, 2016 1:35 PM #
ColmM:
Shit that is going to be an exciting 2nd leg
Aug 26, 2016 1:55 PM #
Nev-Monster:
Yeah, Canada going with old school tactics, but won/lost in the woods regardless. This Godman's first race for Canada?

Aug 27, 2016 12:01 PM #

No, are the hiding it until last leg?
Aug 27, 2016 12:01 PM #

Yes, I do. Did you select Leg 1 for the GPS tracking?
Aug 27, 2016 12:03 PM #

Yes, got it working now, I guess they only just turned it on.

I think it might not affect the next legs as much, as the runners will be spread out and navigating independently,
Aug 27, 2016 12:14 PM #

next legs as in 2nd and 3rd runners, not controls :)

Aug 27, 2016 12:22 PM #

How can the change-over runners be allowed to see the map on the screen?
Aug 27, 2016 12:35 PM #

Just a thought - why don't they inset the gps in one corner of the screen?
Aug 27, 2016 12:36 PM #
Nixon:
Because they aren't as clever as you
Aug 27, 2016 12:37 PM #
iansmith:
You can make that work by using two windows and splitting the screen. Multiple monitors is also an excellent solution.
Aug 27, 2016 12:42 PM #
ColmM:
No one wants to miss the break it seems...

Well, everyone bar Norway missed it even before it got to 2nd leg.

Doping offences can disqualify an athlete many years after a race. What if CCTV footage materialised after a sprint event, showing an athlete breaking a forbidden boundary? Can you be DSQ for that type of cheating afterwards?

Aug 27, 2016 2:25 PM #
BorisGr:
You mean USA?
Aug 27, 2016 2:26 PM #
undy:
That's what I (re) typed. You all look the same to us :)
Aug 27, 2016 2:30 PM #
Nixon:
Interesting selection from CAN, I'd put Emily on 1st leg
Aug 27, 2016 2:30 PM #
undy:
Last leg is a little longer I think which may be why she got it.
Aug 27, 2016 2:32 PM #
Nixon:
It's only a few hundred meters longer though
Aug 27, 2016 2:34 PM #
BorisGr:
My video is dead. Anyone else?
Aug 27, 2016 2:35 PM #
Psuba:
Same here
Aug 27, 2016 2:35 PM #
Psuba:
It's back
Aug 27, 2016 2:37 PM #
Sandy:
Nice run by Sam. Go Alex!!
Aug 27, 2016 2:38 PM #
JimBaker:
2:09 back for Sam...great result
Aug 27, 2016 2:39 PM #
BorisGr:
Great run Sam!!!
Aug 27, 2016 2:39 PM #
Nixon:
Good stuff, well done USA!
Aug 27, 2016 2:41 PM #
Sandy:
Uh oh. Wonder if Latvia is going to #6.
Aug 27, 2016 2:47 PM #
BorisGr:
Sweden out on the road!
Aug 27, 2016 2:47 PM #
Nixon:
Fun quiz time!!!

Who was the last country to do the relay double? And when?

No cheating :)
Aug 27, 2016 2:49 PM #
FE:
GBR and LTU not going for climbing rope route after all.
Aug 27, 2016 2:50 PM #
AZ:
Denmark? (If I can't cheat I have to guess)

What about a triple with the Sprint - has that ever been done?
Aug 27, 2016 2:52 PM #
Nixon:
Nope. I'll give you a clue, it was a home champinships...

there has only been 3 sprint relays: SUI, DEN, DEN
Aug 27, 2016 2:53 PM #
BorisGr:
NOR 97?
Aug 27, 2016 2:54 PM #
AZ:
Oh no - poor emma ;-(
Looks very confused
I hope she can recover okay ...
Aug 27, 2016 2:55 PM #
BorisGr:
Finland 01?
Aug 27, 2016 2:55 PM #
AZ:
Was that two clues? Probably not, but if so SUI a few years ago would have been capable of it...
Aug 27, 2016 2:56 PM #
Nixon:
Nailed it Boris, Finland. and Norway in 1999 too.
Aug 27, 2016 2:57 PM #
Nixon:
Meanwhile, NOR goes AWOL
Aug 27, 2016 2:57 PM #
Sandy:
They finally noticed...
Aug 27, 2016 3:00 PM #
Psuba:
I think it is time to give up on the commentator getting the pronunciation of the leading runner right even once in about 100 tries...
Aug 27, 2016 3:02 PM #
Nixon:
I like the fact he gets them wrong in different ways, he can't even stick on one wrong way of saying someone's name
Aug 27, 2016 3:09 PM #
Sandy:
Nooo...Alex....
Aug 27, 2016 3:10 PM #
Sandy:
Phew. Sorted it out.
Aug 27, 2016 3:14 PM #
Sandy:
I assume Russia and Finland have worked out they have the same forkings by this time.
Aug 27, 2016 3:16 PM #
Sandy:
And they don't notice Norway...
Aug 27, 2016 3:17 PM #
Sandy:
My bad - I thought Finland and Russia had the same forks but apparently not.
Aug 27, 2016 3:19 PM #
AZ:
Becks - no skipping today. Much more appropriate language. Maybe they're getting better?
Aug 27, 2016 3:21 PM #
Nixon:
WTF is happening?!?!?!
Aug 27, 2016 3:21 PM #
Becks:
Lots of people have been skipping! But at least both sexes.
Aug 27, 2016 3:22 PM #
Becks:
Wyder isn't even on my GPS tracking?!
Aug 27, 2016 3:22 PM #
Becks:
Too green maybe.
Aug 27, 2016 3:22 PM #
Sandy:
Do the commentators have the GPS feed we're seeing or only what is shown on TV? They keep missing the misses.
Aug 27, 2016 3:22 PM #
Nixon:
She's just gone straight over the hill at 2 and into the green... I can only think she thought that was the first hill with the long crag, and the green was the flat area in between?
Aug 27, 2016 3:23 PM #
BorisGr:
Tove missing too?
Aug 27, 2016 3:24 PM #
Suzanne:
Really appreciating the commentary as I'm on the road & can't watch the video, so you guys are my connection to a the action!
Aug 27, 2016 3:24 PM #
Psuba:
Tove, Wyder, Gemperle, Indrakova, all making big mistakes on 2 / 3. I can only assume the setting sun gets in their eyes...???
Aug 27, 2016 3:28 PM #
AZ:
Emma finishing strong for Canada on Leg 2... might catch NZL and move up in the Anglo category...

And setting up a great final leg between AUS/USA/NZL/CAN/IRL...
Aug 27, 2016 3:29 PM #
AZ:
(Can't believe the commentary hasn't picked up on that ;-)
Aug 27, 2016 3:31 PM #
Nixon:
Route-choice to #7 very interesting... but mistakes seem to have been even more costly in here
Aug 27, 2016 3:32 PM #
Nixon:
Amazing fitness from Wyder to close the gap to Tove on the hill out of 5
Aug 27, 2016 3:37 PM #
BorisGr:
Emily is past Hannah...
Aug 27, 2016 3:39 PM #
Sandy:
Past Ingham...
Aug 27, 2016 3:41 PM #
dbakker:
Anybody know why the Czechs have been DQed?
Aug 27, 2016 3:44 PM #
Nev-Monster:
Kemp Machine, coming through....
Aug 27, 2016 3:46 PM #
Nixon:
If Alm sneaks bronze out of this it would be legendary
Aug 27, 2016 3:46 PM #
Sandy:
Is Denmark going to catch Finland?
Aug 27, 2016 3:46 PM #
BorisGr:
Alm for silver!!!!
Aug 27, 2016 3:48 PM #
Nixon:
Russia getting lost to the last control..
Aug 27, 2016 3:49 PM #
Nixon:
oh my god, my ears are dying, worst commentary ever
Aug 27, 2016 3:49 PM #
Sandy:
And Wyder ahead of Tove!
Aug 27, 2016 3:50 PM #
Becks:
That was absolutely spectacular from Alm.
Aug 27, 2016 3:50 PM #
gordhun:
OK now the medals are decided can Emily catch both the Jo's?
Aug 27, 2016 3:52 PM #
Psuba:
"We knew the medals are going to come from the top 6, but we didn't know which top 6"...
Aug 27, 2016 3:54 PM #
Nixon:
My new favourite...

@Gordhun - Jo Sheps has 8 minutes and about 1.2km to go, should be enough for the Commy Gold
Aug 27, 2016 3:56 PM #
Nixon:
FRA now heading out to the road... very odd.
Aug 27, 2016 4:18 PM #
gordhun:
@Nixon. Yes I was just pulling a chain. But Emily started 22:51 behind the leading group and finished 23:46 behind , losing less than a minute and actually gaining time from control 11 to the finish. WOW! Great focus when the race is basically over.
Aug 27, 2016 6:26 PM #
Jagge:
I watched the exhange again. Absolutely nothing wrong there. I could blame data stream issues and compressin artifacts, but for sure artifacts were in my eyes and data sreaming issues were in my brain. Sorry for that.
Aug 27, 2016 6:30 PM #
iansmith:
Wow, at the start of the third leg, Tove and Judith running out of the arena together - a showdown of juggernauts.
Aug 30, 2016 9:25 PM #
ken:
