If you want to "win" then you may be out of luck.

If you want to find controls on excellent maps, and support the hosting club(s) and federation, then get yourself to a fall meet.

I haven't run for months now (and couldn't run most of spring between a bad knee and cracked ribs) but have signed up for four of the five national meet days this fall.

Scarborough may not sell their great glass thumb compass magnifier add-on anymore but Gale's O I think still has one (plastic lens), and OUSA's newest advertiser Kanpas from China has one too (unsure whether plastic or glass but my guess is plastic, which is prone to scratching in off trail conditions).

Ward Pound Ridge isn't that far from you, is it?

LOL, that's never been a possibility, ... ever! (At my theoretical best ever,
I'd still be at least 15 minutes behind the winners.) No I'm just referring to
having enough energy and eyesight to enjoy the effort enough to justify
the time.

Ward Pound Ridge is 2 hours from me, and so is Hanover. So that's 4 hours of driving each day.

There are many reasons to go:
- Support O in the region (as you say).
- I'd really like to be able to vote for Ian.
- Maps I don't have,and I love my maps.
- It would give Phil someone to beat, and he really likes that.
- I'd be thrilled to see TG and/or Emily (but too embarrassed to ask for an autograph/selfie, even though I'd really like one).

By the way, do you know if I have to be in person to vote for Ian, or is there some sort of proxy system?

The sticking point is that winter is coming, and my ruin of a house is in desperate need of attention.

Voting - Each club designates representatives to cast votes for their OUSA members that are not in attendance. They do the voting in accordance with their own preferences or per any groundswell from their members for particular candidate.

Other club members that are also OUSA members that are in attendance may cast votes instead of the delegates casting for them.

Confusing? They don't make these things easy. So the main thing is to confirm club and OUSA membership and then let your rep know your desire.

What George said. You'd have to be there in person to be sure your vote goes for Ian, but if your club reps are voting all the club votes that way there's more leverage. Just convince them that's who they should vote for (five different candidates will need to be selected; you can't put all the votes behind just one).

Oh, thanks guys. George, who are the WCOC rep, or reps? And do they have an advertised position?
Aug 30, 2016 8:38 PM #
It probably will be us. No advertised positions but listening to appropriate incentives.

Roger that. Will ruminate.
