But amazing how much more you enjoy those winter fires, knowing that the flue is as clean as a whistle! And that a chimney fire isn't going to leave you homeless at minus 30 degrees!

I sweep my Mom's chimney from the top on a regular basis, and leave the bottom end to her. There are some who, if they were to watch the operation, would not necessarily think that my rooftop scamperings would be the preferred role.

Definitely the impetus for getting this done was wishing to avert an unnecessary catastrophe.

Nothing I'm aware of, and very hopefully it stays that way!
