Rosstopher: So I ran across this quote the other day, from Edgar Allen Poe
"The death of a beautiful woman, is unquestionably the most poetical topic in the world"
these Basque shepherds are not the only ones to draw heavily on the muse that is female beauty.

Swampfox: You do know where Edgar got his start, don't you? That's right, as a cadet at West Point.

Anyway, it's only as natural as the wind in the willows that those shepherds do what they do. Just imagine you've been alone up in the hills all summer with nothing for company but a few sheep dogs and two thousand or so stinkin, bleetin' sheep. And then, one day, there it is: a miracle! You've stumbled upon a water tank, and the smooth, unadorned steel walls attract you like honey attracts the seeking bee. What can you do but whip out a pencil and begin to trace out a series of sinuous, sensual curves in graceful swoops ample upswings? You are entirely helpless by then and can only give in to that most elemental of drives.

And so it is only natural that you draw what your desires have been craving: a large pizza of bubbled dough with extra sauce and broccoli! Or maybe the figure of a woman.

It all kind of depends on which thing the shepherd has been missing most.

jjcote: Can't they just call Domino's on their cell phones and get a pizza delivered up there?
