Sounds from the position at the top like you're pretty damn fit off not much training. Descending can be a funny one mentally, I can tell if I haven't done a race for a while, get all mince. That dead-leg feeling is one you never want to happen but will at the worst time.
On the bright side, hopefully you won't be suffering the Ben Legs everyone else will be this coming week!

What shoes were you wearing? I recced the Ben in some fat soled >>> RocLites and had great fun on the descent, wore > racing version in the race and felt every stone, no confidence and had to pick my way down. Sometimes more is less.
Well climbed though btw. That's decent.
Re 5k: I'm gonna coordinate a fast boys raid on the parkrun some day before the end of the year - provisionally Sat 27th Nov. Get involved.
I was wearing a pair of Inov8 X-Talon 212s which are a size too big... probably didn't help!

I've got two days of cycling planned!!! then very easy running after that... as long as I can run by the Highland Wolf, I'll be happy :)
