Which aid stations are you using drop bags at?
maggie will be crewing for me at olympian (mile 22 & 43 - actual distance, not what's on the site) and dry lake (mile 67 and 77).
I am going to have an drop bag at cow creek mile 31 with just an extra bottle if i need it. they took out that water only aid after that so a 12 mile stretch to the next aid back at olympian.
i will have fully stocked drop bags up high at Long Lake (mile 53 & 94) and Summit Lake (mile 59 & 85)
Honestly, I have never used drop bags and was thinking of putting a few out there just in case. I have always depended on crew which burned me at Bighorn where I sat an aid station for over an hour waiting on them so I could have a light.
i know i've never done a 100 but i would highly recommend using them here. it's going to be cold as shit at night. I am putting plenty of warm clothes in each of my drop bags.
Drop bags are huge at this race. I crewed Ryan last year and he used a bag a long lake with warm clothes. He said when he got there all the bags were covered in frost. It gets incredible cold up there. I have been at the Dry lake Aid Station crewing different runners the last two years and have seen many of the front runners come in freezing cold and drop as they didn't have any warm clothes up high.
There will be frost again (and possibly snow). It's been very cold for weeks now up in the boat, even more so than in Crested Butte where I was a few weeks ago. Katie and I froze together last year at Dry Lake!
We totally froze last year!!! Which is a good reminder, if Maggie is crewing for you at Dry Lake, make sure she has a ton of layers to stay warm - including multiple layers of socks!
