I asked my truck-driving spouse what such a drill entails and he'd never heard of it - must be something instructors make up so they can justify taking your money, says he.

Apparently I will be tested on it. Basically there is:
Pre cab drill: Check all fluid levels (clutch, coolant (something my car needed), windscreen water, oil, steering), fan, fan belt, steering arm, insides of front wheels for damage, leaks, etc.
Cab drill: Check windscreen, rego, loose items, all gauges, air con, lights, seat, seat belt, mirrors & horn
Post start up: All wheels, springs, suspension, load is secure, lights, reflectors, signage, air brakes, kitchen sink...

Looking at some of the trucks driving around over the past couple of days though, I dare say many of the drivers haven't heard of road rules either. Losing a point for forgetting to indicate off a roundabout is a biggie that 90%+ of people in Perth (truck drivers included) don't do.

Your neoprene gear fits me. Did you wear thermals under it or did you heat up whilst paddling?

It heats up whilst paddling; especially the pants. I wouldn't wear any thermals under the top as your arms will get wet from water and splashing and if you wear any thermal gear underneath it will get wet and won't dry and you'll get the chills. I also have a neoprene heat vest at home in one of my small clear tubs in our "Adventure Racing Equipment Room" :P

Can you please remember to collect Mighty Bag for me to transport gear in?

It is in the spare room wardrobe. Just unzip it and take out my paragliding gear. :)
