Discussion: Well, blame it on the tape ...

Well, blame it on the tape if you want, but my observations of you at the start of both days at the Classic Champs were of someone a bit frantically trying to get her shoes properly tied at pretty much the last minute.

And I'm wondering, even if she likes to tie them rather late in the process, like after warm-up, which is reasonable, leaving it as late as she does seems marginally insane. The only other person I've regularly seen do that is Eric Bone, and I can't figure out why (also perhaps MI?)...

So blame the tape if you want, but my guess is the tape applier was a bit rushed and didn't do the best job. :-)

Obviously, you need to start tying your shoes with the daisy chain.

This was a local meet with no scheduled starts so I was definitely not in a rush to tie my shoes. And tying my shoes after my warmup right before my start is part of my race routine and I'm not planning on changing that anytime soon. Maybe to others I look "frantic" but tying my shoes then actually calms me down and clears my head.

I retie my shoes after warming up too. I tie them the normal way for warm up, and then I tie them a different way so that they don't get untied during the course.

Yeah. I've never had a problem with my shoes coming untied before this day when I used someone else's tape.

I never tape my shoe laces and have never had problems since I started doing the orienteering knot and that might be what Will is doing too (?).
