My original plan was to put in on a root stock in a white patch largely but not entirely surrounded by the deadfall. I don't think the root stock was quite mapped accurately, though hardly far off (15, maybe 20m), but I went looking for an alternative nearby feature that would at least make it possible to avoid the worst of the deadfall entirely as soon as I got a look at how bad it was.
