are not for sore knees. I thnk it's supposed to be a quad strengthener, but the twisting that goes on near the knees is not comfortable.
Are those the same as flute skaters? You step backwards into the lunge, but step behind/across instead of straight back? We would do those as part of a dynamic warmup with my track crew. I like the stretch, but have never done with weight.
That's how we did them so probably the same move. For my knees' sake I just step back, mostly (I have to be real careful with moving lunges).
Yeah, sounds like the same thing. It felt fine with no weight, but just want to be totally sure I'm doing it right as there is definitely the potential for damage with weight.
We used to do these a lot with Susie's class - she called them Curtsy Squats, to the left, right. Or just plain squats in all directions. Didn't find they helped. Just the whole routines got tiresome and achey. So quit when the music (actually the noise as I can't recognize any music in the fray) got too loud one day and went for a run. Been outdoors and running ever since and loving it much more.
