While I was regretting some of the climb back to the tower, I did go through there and then cut over to the trail that takes you right to 10. I thought that was a good path.
It was certainly the simplest and shortest reasonable way to get there. I see from their GPS tracks that Stina and Jay also went that way. Stina's split was almost same as mine, yours was a bit slower, and Jay was, well, Jay was storming the course until he lost his head.
Looking at it a bit more I think the fastest route might actually be a variation on mine: start like I did but when you get to the clearing west of 7, cut out through the parking lot to the road and take it down to the bend, then cut through the yellow across the first trail, through the white to the triangle intersection and then finish the same. That cuts out a bunch more contours and is shorter, too.
through the white to the triangle intersection
The white reentrant and then up through the thin strip of green slash? If I'm remembering correctly, that valley is full of swallowwort and it is steep up to the ridge. Not sure what the slash part looks like.
JayXC's route near 10 - staying on the trail until just past north of the control instead of coming down the long depression northeast of the control - was probably better than mine. (I knew the depression was pretty runnable, which is why I went that way.)
