I see you wear Hoka shoes. I've seen pop up adds for them and they look pretty good. Kinda expensive for me...what do you think of them?
I get a discount at Jarrow's store so they are "reasonable."
(I still remember you bought me a pair of those $110 New Balance shoes back when we were in our 20's and you were in Duluth :)
I love them. I put them on and it was like cloud nine on my sore old feet.
I went ahead and ordered some because they were on sale Clifton2's for $70 with shipping from Runners Warehouse...they came 36 hours after I got the confirmation notice just before I was going to run...today is our 32nd anniversary. Chrissy had just finished chewing my butt for 2 hours while I watched Flash on Netflix in 'my room' (James old room) and went out to get stuff for running and there was the box. It is 52 right now..and probably feels like what 40 would feel like to you...but I still ran in shorts with 2 t shirts...first mile kinda weird but ok...but by 1.5 feeling good and rolling.
I could feel the last mile plus having spring in my stride instead of going dead...so I love these things...soft but in a nice way not mushy soft...I had a pair of new balance once that were like pillows....which means for a mile they were ok but on long runs it was like running in sand a little...
I am walking 3 times a week...had stopped walking for awhile, then when I got to non-stop running again I needed rest from the pounding. Started with Monday and then Wed and finally added Friday...went away from Friday for a week or two and decided since I run back to back Sat/Sun and doing more even on Sat than in the past that should bookend the weekend with walking....Wed is really my rest day as I do 3 miles. Mon I am doing 4.5 or more and Friday 4 to 4.5....
Glad you like them... that's a GREAT price!
I'm going to be missing days for a while. I'm working on the repairs on my house and need to get it done before the weather gets too cold. So, lots of time and energy going in that direction.
Life happens. Any exercise and work is good for you. Strength is important and I don't think there are too many things you will be doing that won't give you a pretty good workout.
I saw a lady walking with Hoka's on...I came up on her and her husband and noticed the 'fat' midsole look and sure enough Hoka on the toe...might have even been the same shoes I had...I almost feel like I'm cheating...like steroids or something...they feel so good.
