.. and some time to spare at the end! Hate those cramps - I find gels work in rogaines where I have previously experienced too many cramps.

Great run Golfer. I had a look at the course profile and thought that's a bloody big hill in the middle. And I could feel for you with the cramping - it's so debilitating when it hits.
My two bobs worth on avoiding cramps is a constant drip feed of electrolyte (1.5 Shotz tablets in 500ml of water per hour is my rule of thumb). It takes care of the hydration too. Then chuck some gels into the mix for some energy.
Thanks GM. I might try the Shotz tablets as I just carried plain water this time. I said to several folk before the race that this would be my last long distance race but I enjoyed the course and the challenge so much (and would like to finish it properly), that I might just give it another crack next year:-)
