Sounds like the knee pain I had a few weeks ago. Rotten timing!! Rest up and I hope it calms down soon.

Leanimal thought it was probably part of my hamstring (Biceps femoris) and after some limited research I would have to agree.

The timing is definitely less than ideal, but it could be worse... I could have continued to train and ran into the same problems 3 hours into XPD where Id really have to suffer. At least now I have a couple weeks to work on it and feel it out... I wasn't going to gain much fitness in the next 2 weeks anyways, but I will certainly be able heal up a fair bit.

Not sure if it helps, but I had knee problems at thunder rolls this past summer - hills were killing them. Was actually my IT band. 1 week of rest and 2 weeks of strengthening my glutes each night did wonders at WT.

Yep, saw a doc who prescribed some meds for the race and referred me to physio... Physio is saying IT band friction, and provided me with some exercises and stretches to work with, plus Im back in a couple times before I leave.

The physiotherapist seemed almost in shock at how tight my hammys/quads/IT bands were, as well as at some of the knots and scar tissue I have accumulated. He actually started laughing when he was using the roller... probably cause he knew I was dying inside

I used to be so good at keeping up with the stretching foam rolling etc... should never have let that habit slip.

When you have time after ARWC, I'd be interested in some of those exercises and stretches. I'd never had IT band pain before and hope it never shows up again so I should work on prevention.
