Could you or Eric use any kind of crewing/support? I could even run (a pathetic) 10 miles @ 7:30 or slower if that would be any help.

Thanks for the offer! Pacers aren't allowed on the 50 and Laura is going to crew for me (otherwise I'd be all over that!!!) .

Support is never a bad thing. You can crew for the 50; just not pace. As I'm doing the 100, you could also run a bit with me at night. The bad part for me is typically 60-75. Having company for the second half of the third lap (62-75) could be quite helpful (and I can assure you I'll be taking significantly longer than 7:30 to cover each mile).

Don't know how stickler they are. Site says pacers are only allowed for the final 24 miles, but there's a 'I'm afraid of the dark clause' you could invoke. ;) 62 - 75 would be about Karnak back to Vienna.

Night would be the hardest for me since I uss go to bed between 7 and 8 but I'll figure out a way to deal with that. Is there really an 'afraid of the dark' clause? Never actually paced an ultra before, is it like a pacer in a track race or marathon, a little out front, or more like a social run side by side w conversation? Anyway, let me know where and when and I'll be there.

Not in those words, but yes, there is.

From Karnak to Vienna on the trail is about 11 miles according to google maps...that would actually be a lot better for my range these days. I know, it sounds ridiculous.

Hmmm, I went to the website...the way I read it pacers are only allowed in the last 24m, AND only if its dark. But if I happen to want to run a long run on a public trail in the same direction as some of the contestants, is that pacing?

No, it's banditing. C'mon, you know better.

Anyway, not sure why my reply yesterday didn't post (maybe I posted it to some other thread?) but, help in the last 25 isn't valuable enough for me to encourage anyone to make the trip on my behalf. Thanks for the offer, though.

I know, but I'm just repeating what David White always used to tell me about his races. well, guys, I was thinking about popping down to SI for some camping/bouldering anyway, so if you think of anything let me know. Maybe I'll just hang out in Vienna for a while and see if you all zip by.
