Thanks, trying to understand the 1234 today (I think) for winning in Muckross and comparing it to Colm O'Halloran's 1334 for winning in Rossbeigh, and seeing what I need in 2 weeks

Essentially you want a weak field on the day, so that the mean time is as slow as possible, and you are as far in front of it as possible.
Ideally also if everyone else is quite bunched together further down the results there will be a lower standard deviation.
