I've got a heavily modified contact lens prescription - left lens is good for close reading. Worth trying to see if it helps. Mind you it doesn't help with the terrain - I still feel a little cautious as left eye view of ground is slightly blurred.

Yes, I've been doing that trick for several years now. Its amazing how quickly the brain adjusts, and I'm even confident enough to drive. Hadn't quite made the connection with not focusing in terrain though. Interesting.
