Was interesting walking round the yellow and seeing Lewis, Will and yourself running your courses, looked so much more fluid technique-wise than me! Think i'm a bit on the hesitant side in areas like Barr Wood but really enjoyed the challenge. Thought the event was excellent today.

It did help that I'd already been round the yellow with Rachel. What I was doing on that leg though was simplifying - follow the path to the fence corner then head due West, to bring me out onto the path slightly to the right of the control. Really easy, clear picture in your head, can therefore run fast and without hesitation. You can't always do this though, but simplification can be really useful.
Definitely a great event today!

Could definitely do with some simplification on some of the legs as I tend to (try to!) be pretty careful keeping in touch with the map when on a bearing, which slows me down (so end up minimising use of compass when it's slightly easier!). Don't really practice the harder stuff enough!

Keeping in touch with the map is really important too! Simplification maybe comes later - it's a question of being able to tell in advance what are going to be the big important features on the leg, and knowing that you will definitely see them, so that you don't need to stop and check every single little feature. I was also checking the map as I ran along, checking a few things along the way to confirm everything.

Yes, a tough balance! I need good technique and speed, not good technique at the expense of speed!
