Thanks for sharing. The tracks had me scratching my head and speculating on what in the world you had done out there for 13+ miles...

I discounted biking and tramping around making the shape of a Christmas tree in the snow.
Nice to have the bakery handy.

I also wondered about that track! The one thing that seemed obvious was that you hadn't covered the 13 miles on foot, and that some sort of vehicle was involved to shuttle from place to place.

I had to google Northampton CBC to figure out what you were up to. What's strange is I walked for three miles on the other side of the river, in a "wildlife sanctuary" (adjacent to Arcadia), and I didn't see a single bird (or any other wildlife, for that matter). But maybe that says more about me than about the birds?

No biking, just tromping (and standing still a lot) and then driving short distances. The bakery/cafe was a very nice spot to take a lunch break.

There were birds out there (and one deer I flushed), but hard to see or hear in the wind and fog. I think we got about 30 species in not very promising terrain. Mostly not my doing. :-)

Sometimes really, really big birds come in to land in that field. But, you already knew that. (And it would be unlikely in that weather.)

I am now much better acquainted with that field than I was the one time I saw a really big bird land there.

Would have been a challenging take-off yesterday, gusty winds from the south, thick fog at times.

Yeah, south winds = not a chance.
