1. really good clean crisp sharp farmer rifle snots
2. crust cruising on the snow

Those are good. I have to search for the upside, so thanks for finding some.

For the record I'm a deadeye snot shooter, even in summer. Look out.

Better than a treadmill, for sure. :)

That's a preferable option.

Gear, man. It's all about the gear. And lots of coats. You can never wear too many coats.

Good plan. A wizened, ancient, skinny philosopher/warlock guy once told me the same thing. No, not Paul.

I also did much of my latest run without my gloves on, like other studs I know. Staying warm is easy. Avoiding a sweat fest is less easy, but actually on this run I did a good job of that. Enjoying being out there in the freezing cold instead of almost anything else is the issue. To explain further: This running in frigid temps, to me, is like having salad without dressing. Still good for me, no doubt, and still resembles something I love. But! Not even a fraction of how good it could be. And all the chewy, earthy nasty bits are amplified instead of improved.

How's that?

Ok. It was Paul.

Running in the cold is like eating iceberg lettuce salad without the dressing. You take it one leaf at a time and before you know it all you have left is all good veggies and ... ok that doesn't work.

Training in cold conditions without snow does suck.

You guys are a sad bunch. You're thinking too much.
