Well, I'm still willing to travel across the country, or across the great pond, for an o-meet, and I can't say that the ranking categories have anything to do with it. I'm much more interested in the experience and the social aspects than I am in whittling down the competition to someone I might have a chance of beating.

It is kind of fun to keep track of the Concept II rankings and you are doing quite well. I am only at 43rd percentile for my two efforts this year (2K and 5K), but I am way off and hoping to improve in the coming month or so. Last year my best percentile results were in the shortest pieces, 82nd at 100 M and 80th at 1 minute. My worst was 60th percentile for 2K, others 66th-78th.

Ha ha! That's a great observation:

...whittling down the competition to someone I might have a chance of beating...

But let's face it; one of the pleasures of getting older is just 'lasting longer' than all those other 'fast' guys. For instance, I came in 3rd in the NE Illinois Runner's Choice 2016 Running Circuit. Mostly because I attended more races than most others. Not because I was much of a 'runner.'

But I'm not bashful for attending the 'banquet' next month and standing on the podium. With my wife! Who is an athletic Finn! And just indulges me. She feels the same way you do. She too is more interested in the experience and social aspects of sport. But I'll take it any way I can get it! Ha ha!
