Sold my house, my car, half my possesions and quit my job of 24 years.
Rolled the career dice and moved to the other side of the world to try to start again.
And its proving to be much harder to adjust to than i imagined. Cant explain on here. Spreken niet Nederlands is a daily challenge. Every task takes about 5 times longer at the moment.
But learnt about 50 words in a week to date.
But the potential payback is every weekend i hope to go somewhere new.
In coming months i expect i will be travelling weekly to England, Italy, France, Russia, Poland and potentially other places like India. Some of these i have visited before but majority will be new.
I will find a replacement for picassa so i can post photos.
Just a suggestion from a fellow ex-pat. I found that finding a coffee shop that I loved to be super helpful. I would go every day and the consistency meant I got to know the baristas (it helped that they were friendly and good looking). It might also give you a low-pressure chance to practice your Dutch.
Friends and familiarity will come with time.
