Ah you are able to get in a workout. It was raining hard here all day. Wishing for a break to do some running.

Yeah, we were lucky. Just as we were getting back it started pouring.

Living up in those Santa Cruz mountains during the rainy season, do you ever feel trapped by impassable muddy roads or wash-outs? I guess the area is much more civilized today, but it must still be quite rugged.

Back in the 1940's and '50's there were very few paved roads. Everybody in Los Altos for instance, owned WWII surplus jeeps to get around, which I loved. And I remember one winter my father had to abandon the family car near Pomponio and hike out 5-6 miles to Skyline. He was unable to reclaim the car for weeks!

Yeah, we don't just feel trapped, we actually were trapped for a day: all the roads to Los Gatos were closed. Rumor had it that we could have gone all the way N to Highway 84 above Woodside and gotten down that way, but fortunately we didn't need to go to a town that day, so we just stayed home. Our internet provider was down, too, increasing the sense of being cut off. But we just made a vacation day out of it :-)

Well it was a good thing that you were already home, not trying to get home. Might have had to drive over to the East Bay and move in with 'friends!'
