yup a sunday morning mid winter race and when the race gets bigger finish in ACC. make it a 'Search for the Cure' and stores sponsor to have a control at their location. map is likely already in autocad
Hammer: Didn't you do some sort of promo O-thing in the PATH years ago?
It was Nina. When PATH was opened CTV brought Nina and Nancy Lee in to navigate from the south end of the PATH to a cookie store using the maps. Cameras followed them as they ran through the underground. BUT the maps (as you know) aren't oriented. they had future tunnels mapped as existing. So they had to 'escape' to the surface.
Having a race or fundraiser underground would be awesome. The map making would be so quick and if is for a charity would be easy to get sponsors and support from the PATH system.
What are the strategic goals for the Orienteering club in Canada's biggest city?
I agree Mike. I'm sure they've held different types of races down there...
I'm not sure Nev. You would have to ask TOC.
I have opinions.
But I'll add that my opinions would be kind of ignorant.
I haven't been an active member of a club for a couple decades, (even then I was just a teenager), so I don't know the challenges associated with building a healthy club these days. I can imagine what they might be, but I've never lived through them.
As an orienteering fan/nerd/washed up athlete, (and Torontonian), I like to talk about cool shit I'd like to see here...which happens to be stuff I'd like to focus my energy on.
A washed up athlete whose goal is top 3 in M21 at COCs this year.
I said Top 8.
I'm washed up until there are some results to speak of.
Well as Chair of the Promotions Committee for Orienteering Canada I am going to try to focus on attracting active 20-40 year olds from big cities in Canada. Would love to pick your brain on this!
