Congrats on making it to the podium! Looks like a fun and tough course, I miss being there!
I wish we had the speed to go explore the really hilly bits in the North- that's my favourite part, but would have cost us more than we gained. In this race less was more.
Well earned!! Great effort, strat & nav.!!
Myka, we miss having you here too.
Hey Bent, twas great to get back into the woods with you. Despite looking like I needed medical attention I enjoyed the day. Sorry for destroying your equipment yet again :-(
For the record let me help fill in some of the gaps in your write up:
"The combo was perfect- the climb felt easy." .. too me, Hingo looked like he had hacked up a lung!
" Nav was right on, but Hingo realized we didn't have the speed to execute our plan" .. because he had now coughed up the other lung!
"We put on the tow and covered trail well" ..even though Hingo was legless and I felt like I was towing a boat anchor!
" we hoofed it back to the aid station via controls on flatter routes."..because Hingo absolutely refused to climb another f#@$ng hill!
" Hingo was right".. that his contribution was at best comic relief :-)
Haha! We've missed you, Hingo. 'Bent had a great time with the original Tree Huggers.
Hingo, you have quite accurately described my role the one time I was privileged to race with you, so - at worst - what goes around comes around. BUT, I recall you saying that you were dying that day, too, mostly to make me feel better, so...
Awww, come on Hingo. We do better as a team with you strategizing than my usual headless-chicken technique, and you can descend like a demon posessed.
Another podium for Mr. Speedy! Congrats!
