I've been thinking about you guys. I came across some old photos from that trip to France and Switzerland back in '77. We look just the same now as then. ;-)

Yes, finally snow and cold. Not too deep at the house. I hear the skiing is fine not too far south of here. Map board and pencils put away for a while. I really sorta like 40ºF for tramping around in the woods. Got a couple of small projects lined up for summer but would also like to get to WOC and JWOC (and Canada too). You doing any traveling this summer?

I too got a little bit of mapping done the other week on snowshoes when it was a few degrees above freezing. Mostly vegetation and trails.
Will be around most of the summer. I will be updating the main COC map for 1:15000 in April/May. Off to the Galapagos in April. We have gone to the last 6 WOCs but I don't think Robbie is trying out this year. We visited Talin, Estonia from a cruise a few years ago. Really enjoyed the old city.
If you are coming to the COCs there is still room at our place!
