40 km a day with daylight and scenery?! That sounds downright enjoyable!
It's going to be really different, e.g. finding a way to get my running clothes dry (and maybe even clean) to start each day at 6 a.m. I'm guessing breakfast must be served around 4 a.m. since we have pre-race briefing at 5:45 each day. I'll finally need to experiment with sleeping pills since I'll be sharing hotel rooms with other runners, and I never sleep well before a race anyway, especially when dealing with jet lag. I'll wake up each morning with the aches and pains that are usually postponed until after the race. There are lots of reasons I've avoided stage races but it will be an interesting new challenge.
I'm already impressed with the friendly feeling of a smaller event, e.g. personal emails from Lizzy Hawker who reviewed my application (some essay answers!) and a closed Facebook group where people are already getting to know one another, sharing training ideas and arranging runs if they live nearby
Wow! Another trail race to add to my bucket list!
