....if you're interested I've finally found the solution to calf problems - sit in a full deep squat. Started in the summer and haven't had a problem since after 20 years of problems. Might take you some time to feel comfortable in the position, start maybe 30secs at a time, then build up doing lots of sitting in deep squat throughout the day inc. before running for 3-5mins at a time, and after, without shoes on. Make sure your knee is further forward than the front of your foot. I can now sit as long as I want in that position, in the summer I could only manage 30 secs.My former student who is one of Sweden's leading running coaches/sports scientists backs up my theory and encourages everyone to sit squat for long periods.
